Karen Coppola

Obituary of Karen L. Coppola

Karen Coppola 58, of Ephratah NY, passed away on December 11th, 2017 after a long fought 12-year battle with liver disease.

She leaves her husband of 33 years, Mickey (Michael), her sons Christopher, Nicholas, Austin, daughters in-law Samantha, Kassandra, Alyssa, and two grandchildren, Katelyn and Christopher along with nieces nephews, aunts and uncles.

Native to Schenectady, the daughter of Edward (deceased) and Doris Wujciak and siblings Linda and Edward, Karen moved with her family to Ephratah where her deep involvement with the Johnstown community began. Karen started and headed community programs such as Stockings for Joy and the 17-year run of the Classic Image Holiday Parade that began in Johnstown and now recently continues in Gloversville. One of her greatest passions was to help those who were less fortunate. Karen’s proudest achievement is her family’s dedication to others and them being a part of the community. Karen was always so proud of her sons’ accomplishments. She also served on the GJSD Board of Education. When Karen fell ill she was forced to close her full-service salon but refused to sit idle - she reinvented herself, returned to school and opened her floral business and while continuing tuxedo rentals.
