Obituary of David Stanley Kellogg, Sr.

ALBANY –

David Stanley Kellogg Sr. (Captain) passed away on April 11th, 2024 in Albany NY surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 26th, 1946 to William and Sarah (Evans) Kellogg in Greenwood, New York. David was the second youngest of four boys, and the family soon moved to New Hartford NY where David grew up. He attended several undergrad programs and graduated from Albany Law School in 1972. He received his law degree and went to work as an Attorney for the NYS Dept. of Social Services, which was later renamed the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance where he worked for over 40 years and was held in high regard by his colleagues.

David was predeceased by his parents and his brothers William, Robert and Phillip. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his daughter Sara also known as “Sally” (Jon) and his sons David Kellogg Jr also known as “Stash”, and William (Xiaomi). He is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews who all brought him great joy, as well as many classmates and colleagues with whom he kept in contact.

David was an avid consumer of and enjoyed discussing history, American politics, classic films, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. He was also a passionate booster of local athletics. He would often attend not only his own childrens’ sporting events but those of friends and colleagues too. His greatest pride and joy were his own children; a fact he would remark on frequently.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at Loudonville Presbyterian Church, 22 Old Niskayuna Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211, on May 4th at 11 am. Following the service, a brief reception with refreshments will be held, providing an opportunity for friends and loved ones to share memories and offer condolences.

The family asks that you keep Dave in your hearts and minds. He would encourage us all to engage in a spirited discussion about a favored topic, to attend a local sporting event, but most of all to enjoy time with loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Shaker Road Fire Department, in honor of David's commitment to his community and his unwavering support for public service.
