Obituary of John W. Ryan

John W. Ryan, 78, passed away on December 7, 2018 following a lengthy battle with health issues. Born in Albany, NY, John was the son of the late John P. and Lucille Cusson Ryan.
John owned and operated “Mr. John’s Hair Fashions” in Albany for many years as well as working for the Albany Times Union. John loved camping at Deer Run, playing cards at the Casino, traveling and rooting for his beloved Red Sox. He was a past member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. and belonged to the “Funsters” at the FD.
John was a kind and gentle man loved by his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all especially his feline companion, Sox.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son John. He is survived by his partner of 31 years Patricia Sherman; two stepsons: Michael Ruth (Debbie) and Matthew Ruth (Hiedi); his loving sister, Joan Schafer (Chuck); two sisters-in-law: Rose Ann Kemp (Bill) and Carole Fortin (Richard); two grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Stephanie (Alex) and Shannon Ruth and three great grandchildren: Brynn, Jayde and Maddox.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. Inurnment in Memory Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park, Colonie, NY.
